Hypoglycemic Response of Alloxan-Induced Diabetic Rats Fed with Sweet Potato (Ipomoea Batatas) and Irish (Solanum Tuberosum) Potato Flour Supplemented with Vitamins

The hypoglycemic effect of feeding normal and alloxan-induced diabetic rats with Sweet Potato (Ipomoea batatas)and Irish (Solanum tuberosum)flour fortified vitamin for 21 days was studied. Forty-five white albino were divided into groups five each. are Normal control, control + diet, positive negative test 1 2. Fasting blood glucose 2 hours post-prandial measured at 7 days, 14 days. It found that sweet potato irish flour diet significantly (P<0.05) reduced the fasting compared those fed diet. Maximum reduction in observed day 119.6 ± 5.59 mmol/L group to (223.6 9.31mmol/L (106.6 7.83) mmol/L. While had (133 2.45) mmol/L, (233.6 ±9.31) ±7.83) However showed a better than potato. This shows is time dependent.
